The influences are clear as this directorial debut carries some of Wheatley’s black humour, the typical awkwardness of his characters and the uneasy oddity of their circumstances. The film shines with a performance by Tom Burke in the role of a clumsy bodyguard. Maskell and his producers have managed to snatch a last performance by the British star before his rise to fame makes him impossible to get for independent films.
